The architect designed the best of the possible houses according to the budget, achieving the ideal space for the musician creativity. In a few years the carrer of Joonas went going up until 1.975 when he composed the opera “Last Temptations”.
The building plan is simple and its structure reminds us of Villa Mairea. It has three different areas: the house, the sauna and the garage. The two last separated from the main one, and the sauna joined to it by a pergola.
The main building accomodates three different functions. One of them is the composer´s studio, higher than the rest. It not only works as a working area but also as a space for camera concerts. It links to the living room by a skidding door. Its chimney reminds us again to the one in Villa Mairea.
Finally we reach the intimate spaces: the bedroom, the
kitchen, the bathrooms. One of them had to be restored when the Japan Empress
came to visit the house. This area works independently to the musician studio,
in such a way that his family could live
a domestic life without disturbing one another.
The sauna, indispensable element in finish culture, has also a separate space for guests.

The simple façades are covered with narrow wooden blates and
other details inspired in musical issues.
The house is actually occupied by a couple of musicians. She
is the pianist Elina Viitalia and he is the opera signer Antii A. Pesonen. Both
of them dazzle the visitors with small concerts, wonderful coffe, excellent
cakes (cooked by Elina) and architectonic and landscape explainations.
A recommended place for architecture, nature and
music lovers, where one can apreciate in each small detail the skilfull hand
of Alvar Aalto.
